Colombofuturisms at Biblored
Setembre 26, 2024
I had the great honor of being invited to the I Biennial of Reading, Writing and Orality of Bibliored, which takes place in September 2024. I participated by presenting a proposal that I called Colombofuturisms, cultural rights of access to information in the Marrakesh Treaty. Here you can access my presentation and the document of the proposal.
My proposal
In the image, Soledad Acosta de Samper, who wrote Bogotá in the year 2000: A nightmare
What futures are proposed by institutions related to access to information? And what futures are imagined by civil society organizations and Colombian popular culture? Based on these questions, we will explore possible futures regarding access to information from the communities that make up public libraries, following a methodology of literature review and strategic rethinking to define concrete actions towards the futures we want to turn into present. We will review two lines of work:
- library defense and promotion (or advocacy) and
- linked open data to think about the futures of libraries, cultural rights, and inclusive media within the framework of the implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty in Colombia.

- Here are the slides of the presentation.
- You can see the documents I reviewed for the systematized bibliographic review or download the .ris file to import it into your favorite bibliographic reference manager.
- Additionally, I made an additional presentation with 7 cases of Colombofuturisms. I titled it "Make it real" in homage to the LabCo of the El Tunal Library, where they use this slogan to refer to "Do it yourself".
Other mentions
In this interview titled Breaking barriers: the future of inclusive libraries from the I Biennial of Written Culture, I explained ideas presented at the Biennial about accessibility and the futures of libraries. A question I remember from this interview was how do you imagine libraries in 100 years?
Acknowledgments
I want to take this opportunity to thank Biblored, the people who organized the Biennial, and particularly María Alejandra Vargas Molina for the invitation to participate in this event. Thank you very much, ala!
